Oracle Corporation (NYSE:ORCL) and CoreWeave, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWV) are both spending enormous sums to turn scarce GPUs and data-center capacity into AI cloud revenue. Their financing models increasingly look very different. Oracle reported September 10 that remaining performance obligations reached $664 billion after more than $30 billion of new AI cloud contracts. Crucially, $11.36 billion of its $28.5 billion quarterly capital expenditure was offset by customer prepayments, and most of those new contracts will not require substantial incremental Oracle-funded capital investment. CoreWeave represents the more leveraged neocloud model.
