Psychologist on new social contract: Same people will do same thing, only call it something else

He expressed this view in an interview with Ukrinform , responding to a question about whether Ukraine truly needs a new social contract. “A social contract, like any contract, if possible, presupposes the equality of the parties,” Pokalchuk noted. According to him, historical experience shows that theoretical concepts of a social contract have not been implemented in the form described by philosophers and political scientists. “And the social ideas that have emerged since—I don’t know—the time of John Locke, for example—are purely speculative. Even by their own authors, these socio-philosophical assumptions have never been effectively implemented, because that’s not how it works. They’re just nice words,” said the social psychologist.
