The index opened at 8,169.65 and climbed as high as 8,190.08 during the morning session, extending a tentative recovery from Wednesday's steep, more than 2% decline. That early strength proved short-lived: the index turned decisively lower from around 14:00 CEST, sliding to an intraday low of 8,114.00 before closing barely above that mark. The reversal left the CAC 40 well below Wednesday's close of 8,156.67, extending a difficult stretch for French equities that has now produced losses in the majority of the index's recent sessions.
