The approval expands Wegovy's potential beyond weight management and cardiovascular benefits into another major condition linked to obesity. Reuters noted that Novo sees the decision as further evidence of Wegovy's broader role in treating complications associated with obesity. The approval is particularly important because China represents a large potential market for GLP-1 treatments.
