Is Oracle’s AI Buildout Strategy Stretching Its Balance Sheet Too Far for (ORCL) Investors?

In recent days, Oracle reported strong fiscal first-quarter 2027 results, raised its full-year revenue outlook to at least US$90 billion, expanded its AI health and cloud partnerships, affirmed dividends on common and preferred stock, and simultaneously moved to cut more jobs while taking on additional debt to fund AI data center buildouts. Adding to the mixed signals, Executive Chair Larry Ellison abruptly canceled a previously disclosed plan to sell up to 50 million Oracle shares worth about US$7.5 billion, even as investors weigh the benefits of a US$664 billion AI-related backlog against rising financing and restructuring costs.
