Sept 15 (Reuters) - Consumer prices in France rose 2.6% year-on-year in August on an EU-harmonised basis, statistics office INSEE said on Tuesday, below a preliminary reading of 2.7% from earlier this month. The harmonised inflation rate in the bloc's second-biggest economy — adjusted for comparison with other euro zone countries — accelerated in August compared with the July reading of 2.4% and was at its highest level since May.
