Numerous police officers and other emergency services arrived at the scene. The area around the crash site was searched to determine the drone’s origin and establish the circumstances of the incident. It has not yet been reported who launched the drone or whether it was deliberately directed at the airfield. It is noted that Wunstorf is of particular importance to the Bundeswehr. The airfield is home to the German armed forces’ transport aviation fleet. Therefore, the appearance of a drone in the immediate vicinity of the military facility has drawn heightened attention from law enforcement authorities.
