Meta Platforms (META) has taken a clear step away from being purely an advertising story. The official launch of its Meta One subscription tiers focuses squarely on turning AI tools like Muse into recurring revenue. Recent trading suggests investors are warming to this pivot. Meta Platforms has logged a 1-day share price return of 2.71%, a 7-day move of 7.92% and a 30-day gain of 12.84%. Yet year to date the share price return is only 2.34%, while the 1-year total shareholder return has declined 12.67%. The current burst of momentum is therefore building on a longer stretch of underwhelming performance, even though 3-year and 5-year total shareholder returns of 121.93% and 88.77% still point to strong longer-run value creation.
