Singapore Stock Market May Take Further Damage On Wednesday

(RTTNews) - The Singapore stock market on Tuesday snapped the two-day winning streak in which it had added almost 30 points or 0.5 percent. The Straits Times Index now sits just shy of the 5,640-point plateau and it may see continued consolidation on Wednesday. The global forecast for the Asian markets is negative on rising crude oil prices and treasury yields, and ahead of the U.S. rate decision later today. The European and U.S. markets were down and the Asian bourses are expected to open in similar fashion. The STI finished sharply lower on Tuesday following losses among the financial and technology companies, although the REITs offered support. For the day, the index dropped 79.38 points or 1.39 percent to finish at 5,638.
