EU to turn Lithuanian port into NATO hub in Baltic region

This was reported by TVP World, citing a statement by the European Investment Bank (EIB), Ukrinform reports. The international financial institution, owned by EU member states, said on Tuesday, September 15, that the €201 million project involves upgrading a terminal at the port of Klaipėda to accommodate NATO vessels. The project will also include the development of infrastructure to supply vessels with shore-based electricity, “green” hydrogen, and offshore wind power. According to the publication, the project will help boost military mobility while also strengthening the region’s role in clean energy.
