“During a test involving the SUNGUR missile, the Bayraktar AKINCI unmanned combat aerial vehicle hit a high-speed aerial target drone with a direct hit,” the company said. As part of the test, AKINCI took off from the Flight Training and Testing Center in Çorlu, Tekirdağ Province, and headed to the testing area over the Black Sea. During the test conducted off the coast of Sinop, the SUNGUR missile launched from AKINCI scored a direct hit on the aerial target drone. After completing the test, the drone returned to Çorlu along its planned route, the company said. The SUNGUR air-defense missile was developed by the Turkish company Roketsan, expanding AKINCI’s capabilities to employ various types of munitions against aerial targets.
