The corresponding decree No. 934/2026 , dated September 16, has been published on the head of state’s website, according to Ukrinform. The document states that the awards were granted for personal bravery demonstrated in defending Ukraine’s state sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for the selfless fulfillment of military duty. The defenders received the Presidential “Cross of Combat Merit,” the Orders of Bohdan Khmelnytsky and Danylo Halytsky, the Order “For Courage,” and the medals “For Military Service to Ukraine,” “Defender of the Fatherland,” and “For a Life Saved.” As reported by Ukrinform, Zelensky honored 278 defenders of Ukraine with state awards , 134 of them posthumously.
