Romanian President Nicușor Dan proposed member of European Parliament Siegfried Mureșan as the country’s next prime minister in a third attempt to Bucharest out of its political crisis. Following a day of talks with parliamentary parties on Thursday, Dan said in an address that Mureșan had received “the most votes cast today by the parties in the consultations” — although none of the names floated for the role appealed to a clear majority. “Beyond the fact that he was proposed by the three parties, [Mureșan] is a person who has experience in the European Parliament, who has negotiated important things over time, so he has the expertise for this position,” the president said .
