(RTTNews) - The Canadian market remained firmly up in positive territory Thursday afternoon, thanks largely to hectic buying in the materials sector. Shares from healthcare, financials, utilities, technology and energy sectors too found fairly good support. A drop in U.S. Treasury yields and weak oil prices following the Federal Reserve's interest rate hike and hopes that the central bank will strive to rein in inflation lifted investor sentiment. The benchmark S&P/TSX Composite Index was up 367.30 points or 1.03% at 35,858.57 a little while ago. The Materials Capped Index climbed nearly 3.5%. Americas Gold & Silver Corporation, Discovery Mining, Silvercorp Metals, Vizsla Silver Corp., Novagold Resources, Montage Gold Corp, Abrasilver Resource Corp.
