The U.S. unemployment rate was 4.1%, the same as it was in July. Businesses in Iowa added 2,400 jobs in August, pushing the state’s nonfarm employment to 1,585,800. Sectors that saw job growth in August include manufacturing (up 1,300 jobs from July); leisure and hospitality and healthcare and social assistance (both up 700 jobs); and construction (up 600 jobs).
