DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa’s unemployment rate remained steady at 3.2% for the month of August, according to Iowa Workforce Development. The unemployment rate stayed the same for the fourth consecutive month. The unemployment rate is down from 3.5% a year ago. The total number of working Iowans dipped to 1,669,600 in August. However, officials say this is largely due to Iowans leaving the workforce for retirement. The current employment figure shows a decrease of 2,600 working Iowans since July, and a total decrease of 7,500 since one year ago.
