On September 3, 2026, CNBC reported that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)'s Xbox division will impose monthly time limits on cloud gaming for Game Pass subscribers starting in November, ending years of unlimited access. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers are capped at 15 hours per month, Premium subscribers at 10 hours, and Essential subscribers at 5 hours. Microsoft said the change affects only about 4% of subscribers who stream heavily, and players who exceed their allotted hours. It includes non-subscribers who want to stream games they already own and will be able to purchase additional cloud gaming time through the Xbox Store.
