NATO is ready to respond to a potential Russian escalation on Europe’s eastern flank, the alliance's top general Adm. Giuseppe Cavo Dragone said Saturday, amid growing warnings of a possible staged attack by Moscow. “The alliance is ready, the structure is ready, the soldiers … the weapons are ready,” Dragone told reporters during a regular meeting of the alliance’s 32 top generals in Copenhagen, adding that NATO was continuing its work in “increasing” these forces “in number … and also in sophistication.” The remarks follow growing warnings by European leaders about a possible Russian escalation in Europe .
