STATEWIDE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE DROPS TO LOWEST LEVEL IN TWO YEARS - wccsradio.com

Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate dropped to the lowest level in over two years in the month of August. The State Department of Labor and Industry reported that over last month, the unemployment rate went down by two-tenths of a percentage point to 3.7%, the lowest since May of 2024. The statewide rate is lower than the national unemployment level, which remained unchanged over the month at 4.1%. Over the last 12 months, the statewide unemployment rate went down by seven-tenths from 4.4%. Pennsylvania’s civilian labor force — the estimated number of residents working or looking for work — was up 8,000 over the month to a record high 6,659,000 in August. Employment also rose to a record level while unemployment dropped 11,000 over the month.
