Taiwan’s Central Bank of the Republic of China (CBC) kept its policy rate at 2.0% for a tenth consecutive quarterly meeting, matching market expectations and pointing to a patient stance on monetary settings. The decision leaves policy restrictive enough to address inflation for now, while preserving flexibility should price pressures re-accelerate. In its updated projections, the CBC lifted its 2026 headline inflation forecast to 2.0% from 1.9%, citing elevated global energy prices and sticky services inflation, before pencilling in a move down to 1.8% in 2027. It also raised its 2026 GDP growth forecast to 11.5% from 9.
