Massive Ukrainian drone attack hits Moscow on last day of Russian elections

A large-scale overnight drone attack on Moscow by Ukraine killed at least two people and damaged a major oil refinery, Moscow’s regional governor Andrey Vorobyov said Sunday — the last day of voting in Russia’s parliamentary elections. “Overnight, the Moscow Region was subjected to a massive drone attack,” said Vorobyov , adding that 400 people had been evacuated from an apartment building. Sergei Sobyanin, the city’s mayor, said more than 1,600 drones were intercepted and shot down, with 450 of them headed for the Russian capital. “The biggest attack by enemy drones has been repelled,” he said on Telegram . “This unprecedented attack was clearly planned with the aim of disrupting the ⁠elections.
