Fed raises rates for first time since 2023 as inflation outlook worsens - The Asian Banker

The global interest rate cycle diverged further as energy costs complicated the inflation outlook. The Federal Reserve raised rates for the first time since 2023 and signalled another possible increase this year, while the Bank of Japan lifted its policy rate to a 31-year high. The Bank of England held rates but warned that inflation could exceed 4% in early 2027, while Brazil continued easing. Financial and operational risks also moved up the agenda.
