Delaware August unemployment rate falls to 4.7 percent - Delaware Business Now

Delaware’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell again in August to 4.7%, from 4.8% in July 2026. The Delaware Department of Labor reported 23,600 unemployed Delawareans in August, down from 25,800 in August 2025. The nation’s unemployment rate was 4.1% in August, unchanged from July. In August 2025, the US unemployment rate was 4.3%, while Delaware’s rate was 5%. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that Delaware was one of eight states to see a decline in the jobless rate. Since August 2025, Delaware’s total nonfarm jobs have increased by 800, or 0.2%. Nationally, jobs increased by 0.3% during the same period. Delaware’s total seasonally adjusted jobs increased by 600 from July’s level and by 800 jobs compared with August 2025.
