AtkinsRéalis JV With Aecon Wins $1.7 Bln Pickering Nuclear Refurbishment Contract

(RTTNews) - Candu Energy Inc., an AtkinsRéalis company (ATRL.TO), announced on Monday that it has signed $1.7 billion contract in joint venture with Aecon Group Inc. to refurbish Unit 5 of Ontario Power Generation's Pickering Nuclear Generating Station. AtkinsRéalis said its share of the three-year contract will be added to its nuclear backlog in the third quarter. The work is part of a broader retube, feeder and boiler replacement program covering four CANDU reactors, pending regulatory approval, and would extend Unit 5's life into the 2060s.
