INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana’s unemployment rate remained at 3.3% for a third consecutive month, staying below the national rate of 4.1% as employers continued adding jobs in several industries. The state added about 4,000 private-sector jobs, bringing total private-sector employment to approximately 2.84 million. Employment gains were reported in manufacturing, hospitality and professional services. More than 3.48 million Hoosiers were part of the state’s labor force in late summer, although the labor force participation rate declined slightly to 63%. The national participation rate increased slightly during the same period. Indiana employers continued to seek workers, with more than 102,000 job postings reported near the end of August.
