WILMINGTON — Delaware continued to see its unemployment rate drop slightly for the fifth month in a row, and the drop comes as the labor force continues to shrink. The state’s unemployment rate is now 4.7%, down from 4.8% in July. It has been on a downward trend since April 2026. Delaware gained 600 jobs between July and August. Delaware employers also added an average of 200 jobs per month this year so far, or double the pace of last year, according to a report released by the Department of Labor. There are a total of 481,700 people employed in the state as of last month and 23,600 people unemployed in the state. But the unemployment rate may not be the whole story.
