Florida added 21,800 jobs to the labor market last month, according to new workforce data released Friday. The jobs gained in August represent a 0.2% increase over the month, according to the report from Florida Commerce, which releases workforce statistics each month. Florida’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was down slightly last month, decreasing from 4.6% in July to 4.5% in August. Meanwhile, the national seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.1% in August. August’s job gains came as the state saw an overall increase of 59,000 jobs over the year. That’s up 0.6% compared to the 0.4% increase in jobs nationally during that same time period.
