The UK prime minister Andy Burnham is due to meet US President Donald Trump for the first time at a meeting at the UN General Assembly in New York later on Tuesday. Their conversation is likely to be dominated by the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. It's expected Burnham will urge Trump to provide more interceptor missiles for Ukraine, as well as discuss ways to restore the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, which for the most part have been blocked since the start of the US-Israeli war with Iran in February. Since entering Downing Street in July, Burnham and Trump have spoken twice. Trump described Burnham as “a nice guy”.
