Ukraine, Syria step up cooperation in mine action

The Ministry of Economy and Environment of Ukraine said this in a statement , according to Ukrinform. The document was signed by Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Economy and Environment Ihor Bezkaravainyi, who is in Damascus on an official visit, and Syria's Deputy Minister for Emergency Situations and Disaster Management Mustafa Monir. The agreement provides for measures to clear and return war-affected areas to productive use, as well as the development of information management systems, including innovative mechanisms for prioritizing areas for clearance. Ukraine is also ready to share its expertise and train specialists in non-technical survey, demining, quality management and other areas of humanitarian mine action.
