An armed man has opened fire near a high school in western Turkiye, wounding eight people, including students, authorities said. The injured were rushed to hospitals after the shooting early on Tuesday near a vocational and technical high school in the Turgutlu district in the western Manisa province, the governor’s office said in a statement on X. Police arrested the suspect after he attempted to flee the scene. “A report was received regarding gunfire in the vicinity of the Inci Uzmez Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in our Turgutlu district at 07:59,” the governor’s office said. The motive for the attack was under investigation, it added.
