It is also reported that the former Belgorod mayor served “in the 1st Assault Battalion of the 272nd Motor Rifle Regiment” and was killed “outside the Belgorod Region.” Polezhaev sustained severe injuries in a drone strike and could not be saved, according to Russian Telegram channels. The report says that Polezhaev served as mayor of Belgorod from 2015 to 2019, after which he was appointed deputy governor.
