Fed Hikes Rates to 3.75%-4.00% in September 2026: FOMC Decision Explained - News and Statistics - IndexBox

The Federal Open Market Committee on September 16 raised the federal funds target range by a quarter of a percentage point to 3.75 percent to 4.00 percent, its first increase following a series of reductions, according to Yahoo Finance. The committee pointed to inflation that Fed Chair Kevin Warsh described as too high and persistent for too long. Effective September 17, the Fed adjusted its full set of administered rates in tandem, as outlined in its implementation note. Interest on reserve balances climbed from 3.65 percent to 3.90 percent, the overnight reverse repo rate rose from 3.50 percent to 3.75 percent, and both the primary credit rate and the Standing Repo Facility rate moved to 4.00 percent.
