A U.S.-North Korea summit might bring peace, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung said, in advocating for a meeting with the renegade state. Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly at New York, Lee said that U.S. President Donald Trump's resolve for a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was "a hard won opportunity for change," and said he hopes that the "long suspended dialogue" between Pyongyang and Washington would resume. It was not clear if any meeting was actually planned. Kim Yo Jong, the sister of Kim Jong Un, said that she was not aware of any communication between the two leaders. Trump met Kim three times in his first term, including in Singapore and Vietnam, but did not appear to make any headway at denuclearization.
