Fayette County’s unemployment rate rose slightly as most area counties beat the latest jobs numbers for Iowa with just one county seeing a major exception to the positive news. Statewide, Iowa’s unemployment rate remained steady at 3.2 percent in the latest numbers, outperforming the national average. Buchanan County tied that number in the figures released Tuesday while Winneshiek County at 2.5 was the regional leader, followed by Delaware County with 2.6 percent. Fayette County increased from 3.4 to 3.5 percent, followed right behind by Clayton County with 3.6 percent. All of those counties beat the national average of 4.1 average, which was tied by Black Hawk County.
