UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo said this at the start of a UN Security Council meeting in New York on “Maintenance of Peace and Security of Ukraine,” according to an Ukrinform correspondent. “During the first eight months alone, more civilians were killed or injured in Ukraine than throughout all of 2025. The high number of civilian casualties reporteed so far in September indicates that this extremely alarming trend is continuing, as missile and drone attacks increasingly hit populated areas, including cities located far from the front line,” DiCarlo said.
