An updated edition of the August 5, 2026 article. Nuclear energy is gaining prominence in the global clean energy transition, providing a reliable and carbon-free source of electricity as power consumption continues to increase. Unlike intermittent renewable sources such as wind and solar, nuclear facilities can generate electricity continuously, helping strengthen grid reliability while supporting broader decarbonization goals. Prospects for the nuclear industry are also strengthening, driven by reactor license extensions, progress in small modular reactor ("SMR") technologies, regulatory approvals for new projects and initiatives to bring previously retired U.S. nuclear plants back into operation.
