(RTTNews) - The Singapore stock market on Wednesday ended the two-day winning streak in which it had gathered almost 70 points or 1.2 percent. The Straits Times Index now sits just beneath the 5,710-point plateau and it may take further damage on Thursday. The global forecast for the Asian markets is negative thanks to a rebound in crude oil prices and a spike in treasury yields. The European and U.S. markets were down and the Asian bourses are expected to follow that lead. The STI finished modestly lower on Wednesday as losses from the manufacturing companies, gains from the technology stocks and a mixed picture from the financial sector. For the day, the index shed 13.85 points or 0.24 percent to finish at 5,709.91 after trading between 5,682.
