Oracle battles to delay payments on $165bn data centre

The company, founded by billionaire Larry Ellison, has issued a notice to the data centre's developer seeking to put off planned payments if the project in New Mexico is delayed. Oracle is set to be the main tenant in the complex, called Project Jupiter, but construction has been beset by opposition from local authorities, which has threatened to hold up work on the site. Oracle wrote to the site's main backer Blue Owl on Thursday with a so-called "force majeure" notice seeking to delay payments under its contractual obligations.
