Woodward (WWD) Plans a Factory Move and Asset Sale. Can Aerospace Profits Improve?

Woodward, Inc. (NASDAQ:WWD) announced on September 21 plans to move military flight-control actuation production from Santa Clarita, California, to a new aerospace manufacturing campus in Spartanburg, South Carolina. These systems operate the flight controls on military fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. The Spartanburg facility is expected to begin operating in summer 2027, while Woodward, Inc. (NASDAQ:WWD) expects to cease operations at Santa Clarita no later than December 2027. Approximately 400 roles will be affected through phased transitions. Separately, Woodward, Inc. (NASDAQ:WWD) agreed to sell the Santa Clarita campus and selected legacy commercial rotorcraft, land-systems, and business-jet product lines.
