German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul is meeting his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov at the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. A correspondent for the Russian Interfax news agency reported Wadephul and Lavrov, followed by aides, shaking hands before the press was asked to leave. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the meeting is taking place at the German initiative.
