German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul is meeting his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov at the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. A correspondent for the Russian Interfax news agency reported Wadephul and Lavrov, followed by aides, shaking hands before the press was asked to leave. Russian ​Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria ​Zakharova said the meeting is taking place at the German initiative.
