The Illinois Department of Employment Security says the county's unemployment rate was 3.8 percent in August, compared with 4.5 percent a year ago. Kane County also had an unemployment rate of 3.8 percent in August, while DeKalb County's rate was 3.7 percent. The number of jobs in the three-county area was down by about 4,500 compared with a year ago. The regional average unemployment rate was 3.8 percent.
