Hong Kong May See Renewed Selling Pressure

(RTTNews) - The Hong Kong stock market on Monday snapped the three-day losing streak in which it had stumbled almost 600 points or 2.5 percent. The Hang Seng Index now sits just above the 24,640-point plateau although it figures to head south again on Tuesday. The global forecast for the Asian markets is soft on a rebound in both crude oil prices and treasury yields. The European and U.S. markets were down and the Asian bourses are expected to follow suit. The Hang Seng finished modestly higher on Monday as gains from the energy, financial and industrial companies were capped by weakness from the technology and property sectors. For the day, the index improved 132.42 points or 0.54 percent to finish at 24,642.51 after trading between 24,554.
