Uber Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:UBER) is generating more operating cash while carrying a larger insurance obligation. Results released August 5 showed $13.286 billion of short-term and long-term insurance reserves as of June 30, 2026, up from $12.463 billion as of December 31, 2025. These reserves estimate unpaid claims and settlement costs, including losses incurred but not yet reported. They are liabilities, separate from cash available to spend. First-half operating cash flow reached $5.213 billion, compared with $4.888 billion a year earlier. The accrued-insurance line contributed $830 million, down from $1.487 billion. That contribution primarily reflects insurance liabilities recorded during the period exceeding claims paid.
