Roman-era pottery kiln discovered in Chernivtsi

The discovery was announced at the Chernivtsi Regional Museum of Local History, where new archaeological materials were presented, according to Ukrinform. “First, we dug an exploratory pit—that is, a small hole—to see if we might find any ancient artifacts on this small plot of land, which is still free of modern development. We removed the soil layer by layer. Gradually, the outlines of some ancient structure began to emerge,” noted Mykola Ilkiv, associate professor in the Department of World History at Chernivtsi National University and a leading research fellow at the museum. The furnace is about one and a half meters in diameter and has two chambers.
