(RTTNews) - After moving mostly higher early in the session, stocks have given back ground over the course of the trading day on Monday. The major averages have pulled back well off their highs of the session, with the S&P 500 dipping into negative territory. Currently, the major averages are turning in a mixed performance. While the Nasdaq is up 36.50 points or 0.2 percent at 17,394.38, the S&P 500 is down 1.55 points or less than a tenth of a percent at 5,457.55 and the Dow is down 148.88 points or 0.4 percent at 40,440.46. The early strength on Wall Street partly reflected optimism ahead of the release of earnings news from several major technology companies.
