The labor market has so far proved resilient despite businesses facing rising energy prices and higher interest rates due to the prolonged Middle East conflict. The number of unemployed increased by 26 thousand from the previous month to 11.357 million. In turn, youth unemployment edged down to 15% from 15.1% in July, with 2.391 million young people under 25 unemployed. Among the major economies in the bloc, Germany (4%) and the Netherlands (4%) recorded the lower rates, whereas Spain (10%), France (8.2%), and Italy (6.2%) posted the highest rates.
