Pump pressure is mounting in Singapore, with Chinese state-owned Sinopec becoming the latest fuel retailer to raise petrol prices on Thursday (Oct 1). In a price board update posted at its stations on Thursday afternoon, Sinopec announced that it had raised prices across its petrol offerings — 95-octane, 95-octane and premium petrol — by 5 cents each, while keeping diesel prices unchanged. The move mirrors Esso's upward adjustment on Sept 30 , and increases announced by both Shell and Caltex a day earlier . Following the latest round of hikes, the price of the more popular 95-octane petrol at the five major fuel companies now ranges from $3.48 per litre at SPC, to $3.54 per litre at Caltex, Esso, Shell and Sinopec.
