The unemployment rate in Grundy County increased year-over-year. That’s according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security and Grundy Economic Development Council. Grundy County had an unemployment rate of 4.9 percent in August of this year compared to 4.1 percent in August of 2025. The labor force in Grundy County consists of 28,533 and 27,128 people are employed. In Livingston County, the unemployment rate was 3.2 percent in August of this year compared to 4.2 percent in August of 2025. Kendall County's rate was 4.3 percent in August.
