Eurozone unemployment was unchanged in August, official data showed on Thursday, although the number of people out of work continued to edge higher. According to Eurostat, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 6.4% in August, unchanged from July. While this was up from 6.3% in August 2025, joblessness remains close to the record-low level of 6.2%. An estimated 11.36m people were unemployed across the eurozone, an increase of 26,000 from July and 267,000 from the same month a year earlier. Youth unemployment eased slightly, however. The unemployment rate among under-25s fell to 15.0% from 15.1% in July, with around 2.39m young people out of work.
